Great read as always Noemie.

Definitely catatasphrosing for me my brain auto translates can I grab a quick word when you have a minute, nothing important - into - in five minutes time your getting taken out the back to be shot.

Brilliant. First up, the title is the truest and funniest I have ever read. Second up, these CBT techniques badly need to be better known. I cannot believe I was on this earth 40 years without putting a name to these automatic but entirely toxic thoughtloops. Such a waste of time.

Thank you SO much! And honestly, same. I spent years just accepting those loops as truth without ever stopping to go, wait, what actually IS this thought? Naming them changes everything. It's like finally seeing the matrix (which, fun fact, I actually haven't seen)

You have a treat waiting for you! I wonder if it’ll all seem very dated now…

The loudest (and most persistent) voice we hear is our own.

And, to your point, it shapes everything.

It really does Kevin! And the sneaky part is how convincing it sounds because it's OUR voice saying it. We don't question it nearly enough

So true.

And the next level of how nefarious this can be is when we say it out loud…

often dressed up as selfdeprication or humor.

What it’s really doing is showing others how to treat us.

We are modeling what’s acceptable.
