Day 3: The 3 Loops Keeping You Stuck on Repeat
September Rentrée Series
🍂 Welcome to the September Rentrée! Every weekday this month, you'll get one bold, bite-sized piece to spark reflection, shift your habits, and help you design a life that feels good in real life.
1 month. 20 bold truths. A life-changing September.
In France, la rentrée (the return) is a national event. It's about fresh routines, new ideas, and intentional renewal. And that's exactly the energy we're bringing here.
Your fresh start looks exactly like your last fresh start.
Like pedalling furiously on a stationary bike. Sweating. Exhausted. Still in the same place.
That is what happens when you are caught in invisible loops.
They feel productive. They feel like progress. But they keep you trapped.
Here are the three loops:
Loop 1: The Tomorrow Trap "I'll start Monday. After this project. When things calm down." Truth: the perfect moment never comes.
Loop 2: The Comparison Game Chasing goals that look good on Instagram but feel hollow in real life. Truth: running someone else's operating system on your hardware drains you fast.
Loop 3: The Drill Sergeant Method Thinking harsh self-talk will motivate you. Truth: kindness beats cruelty, every time.
Here's the breakthrough: These mental loops survive on autopilot. The way out is catching yourself in the act.
Neuroscientists call this metacognition. The ability to notice your own patterns.
The moment you see it, you hit a choice point, that split second where you can either replay the loop or choose differently.
Recognition creates choice. And choice is where redesign begins.
Start here: pick the loop that stung the most.
For the next week, just notice when you are in it. Name it.
Do this today: pick your loudest loop and give it a name, create a catch phrase to interrupt it, tally each time it appears for seven days.
Ask yourself: when does this loop show up most reliably, and what is the smallest different move I can make at that moment?
And the game-changer question:
What would it cost you to stay in that loop another year?
Only you can decide if it’s even worth changing.
But the question itself can spark the shift
With love,
Noemie
